On-device OCR

If you can see the words,
you can copy them.

Draw a region around text that cannot be selected. Apple Vision reads it on your Mac and Pastry returns ordinary, editable text.

The complete gesture

Draw around it.
Paste the words.

Error dialogs, video frames, scanned documents, and flattened screenshots all become the same familiar thing: text in your clipboard history.

01

Choose a region

The shortcut hands control to the familiar macOS region selector. Drag only around the lines you need, then release.

⌘ ⇧ X
02

Vision reads locally

Pastry sends the temporary capture to Apple’s Vision framework on your Mac, with multilingual recognition enabled and no remote OCR service.

03

Text arrives ready

Recognized lines are joined in reading order, copied to the clipboard, and inserted at the top of Pastry history as a normal text clip.

The boundary

The temporary image is not the result.

Pastry removes the temporary capture after recognition. The durable item is the extracted text in your local history, ready to search, tag, expand, or paste.

Useful when
01

Copying an exact error from a dialog that blocks selection

02

Pulling a tracking number from a scanned receipt

03

Turning words in a presentation or video frame into notes

Stop re-copying
what you already copied.

It takes about ninety seconds to install and one afternoon to stop being able to work without it.
